Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
